D. Nolan Jefferson

D. Nolan Jefferson is a Washington, D.C. based writer and educator whose prose appears in Tahoma Literary Review, Orca Literary, Santa Fe Writers Project, Hobart Pulp, TriQuarterly, Foglifter, and the upcoming anthology, Fat and Queer. He is an AWP Intro Journal Project Award winner, and Kimblio Fiction fellow.

An Associate Librarian and member of the faculty at American University, his academic research examines justice, equity, diversity and inclusion issues, specifically in higher education libraries, and serves to mentor new librarians to the profession, having earned degrees from San Diego State University, Art Center College of Design, and Louisiana State University.

Born and raised in Southern California, his roots are in the American South and you can hear it in his voice. He once thought he’d become a pastry chef. His obsessions include art, donuts, hot sauce, records, movies, shrimp po boys, The Golden Girls, tacos, and blessing people’s hearts.
